With the Winter Formal just weeks away, each must choose the other's date and join their sibling for a double date. If they can get through the evening without incident, they will receive the keys to a brand new convertible. If not, it's the family station wagon to the loser. Sounds easy enough . . . yeah, right. TELEPLAYS

TELEVISION:

GIGS, INC. A fresh new half-hour TV sitcom pilot that takes a sneak peak into the absurd world of the B-side of the entertainment industry. "There's no business like show business like no business I know" Irving Berlin. At least that's what talent agent JAKE MADDEN thought twenty years ago when he started GIGS, INC, his currently fledgling entertainment company. Now he's not so sure what he was thinking or possibly smoking when he dropped out of college to go after his slightly skewed version of the American Dream. Freaking out as his 40th birthday approaches, this family man has been forced by a sluggish economy to move the agency into his two car garage, literally bringing home his work along with the outrageous cast of entertainment personalities he deals with on a daily basis. Gone are the dreams of coliseums and world tours, replaced instead with birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, and weddings. At Gigs, Inc. we're not talking about the sharpest tools in the entertainment world shed as evidenced by Jake's best friend, BOB, a chameleon of a performer who is a different entertainer every time we see him. Mixing the dysfunctional Madden family conflicts and teen angst with dilemmas created by the zany bunch of entertainers proves to be a volatile combination and we're never quite sure how or if the problems are going to be solved when their two worlds collide. Written by and based on the bizarre first hand experiences of a L.A. talent agent, this comedy series might just "bring down the house". - JERRY McGUIRE MEETS MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE .

BELLHOPS "Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes but they don't quit." One wonders if hotel magnate, Conrad Hilton had Bellhops in mind when he penned the above quote. Welcome to the slightly off center world of Bellhops, those loveable unsung heroes of the Celebrity International Hotel. Set in the glitzy Southern California community of Beverly Hills during present day, this quirky cast of misfits always seems to be one step away from an impending disaster. In addition to their normal duties of greeting guests, helping with their luggage, and explaining specific features about the rooms, the Bellhops have an uncanny tendency of overstepping their assigned boundaries, delving into the personal lives and business of their high profile guests , often to the chagrin of their rivals at the Front Desk. Led by Bell Captain and USC law school student, Jeff O'Reilly, the ensemble cast of dysfunctional porters consists of model/actress wannabe and the Celebrity International's first female bellhop, Kelly Pierce., surfer and college dropout, Lance Gilham, and aspiring Hollywood stuntman, Tai Nguyen. Jenna Trent, the lovely concierge and apple of Jeff's eye, is the cause of an exorbitant amount of sexual tension, as the sparks between them are continually interrupted by one crisis or another. While there is never a dull moment at the bell desk, the Bellhops maintain a unique family style bond which protects them from the perils of the outside world. Sprinkle in Howard Johnson, a hotel general manager with more phobias than most mental patients and the schemes of the Bellhops chief nemesis, Front Desk Manager, Edward Stern, and you're starting to feel right at home in this parallel world. Written by and based in part on the bizarre first hand experiences of a former hotel executive, this comedy series might just make checking in the most memorable part of the week. - FRIENDS MEETS HOTEL -
